Friday already!!!A quiet weekend ahead for me as my DH is in the UK, actually somewhere in Germany today and says he is dying of cold. He is not used to the cold, it never snows here, and may get to 1 degree occasionally in Winter.At the moment it is mid Summer in South Africa and HOT! Here is a photo of him taken yesterday LOL

Feli Designs at DDS is in the spotlight , 30% off her PU storeJust wanted to share a little sad story with a happy ending about our little girl doxie Trixie. She is 9 years old

On Monday I nearly died of fright, seeing her walk past my study window dragging her back legs behind her. My worst nightmare come true, as I know these dogs get back problems. My son, daughter and I rushed her to our vet. She had 2 ruptured discs, and they gave us the choice of leaving her and hope the body would heal itself ,or operate. Of course we said operate. They told us to expect at least a week before we saw improvements, but she surprised everyone by walking the very next day, and we could bring her home. She is improving all the time, and the vet said she will be back to normal in a few weeks. I am just so thankful she is ok, I have heard so many sad outcomes with these dogs and their backs, my friends recently had to put hers down as there was nothing they could do for her. She is such a strong ,determined little dog, we love her so much. Some pics of her 12 hours after the op, taken with my cel

My very first blog post of 2012, hope your year will be everything you dream and wish for!! This holiday season was spent at home, just hubby and I alone for the first time ever, as my kids went to spend some time with my oldest son , it was peaceful, but really missed them, although they had a wonderful fun time on their own!

Where has this year flown too?? It seems just the other day we were getting ready to go on vacation! This year we are spending the holidays at home, call it a working holiday as we are doing some long overdue maintenance on our house. My hubby travels so much during the year, he is tired out and just needs to relax at home.
My son Wesley came home from the Netherlands a few days ago, and then he was off to Durban to move into his new house that he is renting with a friend. He is a few hours away so it feels so much closer than when he was overseas. Durban is by the ocean so of course my youngest son is off to spend the weekend there, so a nice quiet weekend for us.

We have a new puppy, yes, you read right , our 5th addition to our dog family! My daughter's boyfriend Mark bought her a tiny cute little girl pekingese. How could I say no, it was a gift after all! At the moment its PJ drill and we have to watch her all the time because of Monty's huge paws. He is very sweet and gentle with her but one accidentally step could really hurt her. They have called her Wednesday. Some photos (my first attempt with the new camera!)

It been a hectic couple of weeks, I have basically lived in my car, being taxi to my DD Cherye, her modeling has taken off and I have been shunting her from one job to another, I can't wait for the day she has her license , she is 18 in January.
I am also so excited that my son Wesley who went to the Netherlands to work a few months ago is coming home, he is so homesick, he misses his family and friends, the gorgeous weather here, and most of all the rugby and sport on TV!! He has lost so much weight due to all the bike riding!haha
Our little pekingese Biscuit had his very first "lion" cut , he looks so cute, we could not get over how cute and muscular his little back legs are!

Bring on the Weekend

Spring is in the air and I feel great , started a really good healthy eating plan on Monday and lost 2kg's (about 4lbs) in 4 days!! I could actually get into jeans this morning that I could not get into a week ago! And we are going to the Good Food and Wine show on Sunday, not that I am much of a cook but Mark loves cooking, and does it well, how lucky am I!

It's Fabulous Friday....

.... because my son Wesley phoned me and sent me some photos of his night out on the town last night(Arnhem). He looks happy and healthy!And he will be home on 26th November for 2 weeks!! .... I got my daughter to work on time after a crazy morning, I lost my car keys but I eventually found them!
....It's Bok Friday, our rugby team the Springboks won their game on Sunday and we are hoping for a good one tomorrow. Everyone is wearing their Bok jerseys today in support!!

Yay, its officially the first day of Spring here, we are experiencing Summer weather already these last few days, so awesome after the very cold Winter we have had here.

Lots of scrapping news to get through today, but first let me show you a few photos my son Wesley sent me from his new home in Duiven,Netherlands.What a beautiful picturesque place. His apartment is lovely and airy and spacious, with a gorgeous view, he is going to be very happy there. He loves his new job too. I has to laugh as he has never caught a bus or train in his life, he was given a bicycle to get to work but he decided a train ride was better, and today he missed his stop and traveled all the way into the city and had to catch a train back to work, getting their about 2 hours late. Of course his new boss thought it was hilarious, and has promised to show him the ropes about trains and buses in that area!.

Farewell Wesley!

The day finally arrived, Sunday 28th August, Wesley 23rd birthday as well as him leaving for the Netherlands. It was a sad day but after speaking to him last night I can hear he is happy and excited to be there. Here are a few photos from his farewell party on Friday night.

A sad goodbye

As most of you probably know DSO is closing its doors at the end of August . I can hardly believe it as I have been hanging around there for a couple of years, loved the challenges and posted every LO there. I have got to know Bunny over the years too. When I was a new designer ,wet behind the ears she gave me a lot of advice and even fought a battle or two for me. We will definitively miss DSO!

Where does time fly to? Only 10 days until we are officially have spring here in South Africa. It has been the coldest Winter here for years, we even had snow in areas where it never snows. Here in Pretoria we has unseasonal hail storms and sleet!

And only a week until my son Wesley leaves for Holland! He is going to a place called Duiven, I haven't been able to find out much about it, except it is wet!

The weekend has arrived with gorgeous warmer weather, I think there may be a glint of Spring in the air. I saw Spring blossoms the other day!It has been a looong cold winter and I am ready for sun, cocktails and warm evenings! Sad part of the last month of Winter nearing it's end, is that my son Wesley(the oldest of my four kids) is leaving for the Netherlands on 28th (his 23rd birthday). He has a job there, I am excited for him for this great opportunity but sad that he is going, we will miss him terribly as he still lives at home (in his own flat on our property) Here I am with 2 of my sons, Wes is the dark haired one on the left.Mark (my hubby) is there very often and I am hoping to go in a few months too.

Our Cane Corso Monty is 6 months old, and has earned the nickname The Full Monty as he is so big hahaha!He has gone through 4 eye surgeries for Cherry Eye in the last 2 months, the last being a partial removal of the tear gland, just leaving the duct in tact, he looks so much better. Here he is just after the op, feeling very sorry for himself, trying to get on the bed but still too out of it.
He weighs 40 kgs (88 lbs) and is 61 cms tall at the withers(24 inches), the average height of a fully grown Corso already, big boy!

It's been a hectic couple of weeks, with rugby season in full swing again, and my middle son Tristan, turning 21 on 6 June, and we had a Wild West party for him on 11th. It's always fun organizing this type of theme party, but I must admit I am always relieved when it is over!Here are a few photos:

Wishful thinking....

We are experiencing almost mid winter here, seriously freezing !!
Looking at all the beautiful spring and beachy summer kits around makes me long for Summer again!Mark (hubby) is in the UK at the moment, he phoned at 10pm last night to say it was still light there and he was just about to go out for something to eat, I had been in bed for hours already trying to get warm!Its dark here by 5.30!

At long last!!!

After 3 long months our kitchen is finally finished- well, about 90% finished, still a door to put on, some lighting and a picture to put up, and a few adjustments to doors and drawers, but I am all moved in!I am loving my separate scullery, the kitchen stays clean for a change!

The splash back has been put up since the above photos were taken

The bathroom has been at a standstill for a month, mistakes made with the vanity and then the granite did not fit! The new granite was done today eventually!

Monty is 5 months old now, and is a monster, he weighs 32kg's (70.4 lbs) he has gone through 3 eye surgeries now in the last 4 weeks, the right eye is healing well but the left is still very swollen and red. I hope it will soon be okay, he is not in pain, just looks bad!

Long time no blog!

I haven't blogged in almost a month!! I have just been soooo busy with getting my house back in order. The kitchen is basically finished and I have moved everything back, but there are still a few touch ups and fixes to be done, so I won't show you the finished product just yet. The bathroom is a disaster, the vanity was the incorrect size and the tiler did a terrible job and we had to lift everything off. They will only be back next week to hopefully redo everything. I also spruced up Mark's bar as an anniversary pressie for him (26 years on 12 April!) He loves it.

Monty had to have eye surgery about 2 weeks ago, he developed Cherry Eye in one of his eyes (the tear gland popped out) it is not painful, just irritating and looks terrible. He is back to being his gorgeous self.(4 months old now)

Cherye my daughter had a hair make over (one of her many!) she is now a red head! I love it!Some new goodies by my favourite designers!

Our kitchen is almost done, but I am so disappointed as the fitter made such a stupid mistake with 10 of the doors, he did not center the handles- on all of them, and only realized after he had done them all, you can see it on the photo below!And the brand new extractor fan does not work! So his mistake will cost him, and I will have to wait another week for the new doors to be made and installed!But otherwise I am completely ecstatic with the way its turning out!
And we started on the family bathroom a few days ago, we had no choice as all the pipes had rusted in the walls and were leaking, so the plumbing has to be completely redone as well. This is an old house we bought on auction 11 years ago for a song.
